Heathcote Visiting Author Program
The Visiting Author Committee partners with Heathcote's librarian to bring published authors to our school each year. These authors deliver fun, engaging, and age-appropriate presentations, giving students a chance to meet real-life writers and learn more about the creative process behind books.
We typically host 2–3 visiting authors each year, with each one meeting with students in grade groups that match the themes and reading levels of their books (for example, one author may meet with grades K–2, and another with grades 3–5). Each visit lasts about 45 minutes to an hour, and parents are invited to attend.
Before the visit, the committee organizes an online book sale so families can purchase books to be signed and personalized by the author. It’s a great way to get students excited about reading, spark meaningful conversations, and bring books to life in a whole new way!
Stay tuned for more great author visits in the upcoming year and please contact Christine Bang and Carmen Chappetta for more information.
